COMPETITION TEAM: In addition to our regular studio classes, LDC offers those who are interested in competitive dance the opportunity to join our competition team. The competition team typically begins practices in late August and performs at the recital in December. Beginning in February and ending in April, the competition team attends regional workshops, performances, and/or competitions. In general, competition team members can expect to be involved in one regional workshop and two to three regional competitions and/or performances during this time. These are generally held during the weekends and usually take place in Boulder, Longmont, Denver or Colorado Springs. In addition to these regional events, the competition team generally ends its season by attending one annual national competition or performance in July. National events are out of state. In previous years, the competition has traveled to Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Chicago, Orlando, and this year to San Diego (pictured) for its national event. The competition team also performs at the summer recital each June.
Competition team is a wonderful activity to keep kids involved, motivated and goal oriented. The friendships they make and the skills they learn are invaluable and help to build confident and responsible individuals.
